ZOMBIE RUN 2023 - SUNDAY 8TH OCTOBER

Get ready to run for your life, as Ireland’s original Zombie Run returns this year on Sunday 8th October!

The Halloween season kicks off early at The Jungle, with our zombie-infested mud run guaranteed to get you in the mood for Halloween, as flesh-hungry zombies chase you with only one goal – taking one of your three lives! Your only goal is to reach the finish line with at least one of your three lives still intact. Of course, that is easier said than done, which is why we are providing you with a (hopefully) helpful ‘Survival Guide’ for this year’s Zombie Run, which should increase your chances of survival.

ZOMBIE RUN TIMES

We’ll have Adults, Teens & Kids all racing on Sunday 8th October.

RACE TIMES

Adults – 10:00 onwards (time slot every 10 minutes)

Kids – 13:00 onwards (time slot every 10 minutes)

Teens – 14:30 onwards (time slot every 10 minutes)

PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR ALLOCATED RACE TIME TO REGISTER.

Arrival

Please park in the car park, which is across the road and safe from Zombies, and make your way through the subway tunnel into the Jungle farmyard. DO NOT CROSS THE ROAD.

Registration

Please arrive at The Jungle at least 30 minutes before your allocated race time (found on your confirmation email). You should head to the Registration Area on arrival and chat to our Registration Team. They will give you your waistband, complete with three ribbons, which represent your ‘lives’. It will be your goal to make it around the course and through the Zombie Infected Zones with at least one of your three lives in tact.

Our Registration Team will sign you in and ask you to have a read over the Risk Acknowledgement board one final time and give a thumbs up to our cameras to acknowledge you accept the risks involved (don’t worry, you won’t actually get bitten) and are happy to take part.

You can leave your bag in our Bag Drop Area if you wish. There will be a small fee of £2 per bag, should you wish to use this service. We will store your bag securely away from the Zombies and you can pick it up after your run.

Changes/Additions

There are some cool changes/additions to our Zombie Run this year, with participants now receiving a brand-new medal and a Zombie Run t-shirt after the run – so that you can show off being a Zombie Run survivor! There will also be a small surprise addition for those lucky few that finish the run with all three of their lives in tact – will you be one of them?

This year we also have reduced slots for each run, which means that there is now more space for you to evade the hungry Zombies. And speaking of hungry; the food on offer after the run this year will be chicken bites with chips, which should help satiate the kind of hunger that only an obstacle run filled with Zombies can bring out in a person.

ZOMBIE RUN PRICES

Adults – £40

Kids – £20

Teens – £25

Parents can run alongside their children at a reduced rate of HALF PRICE. (Parents will not receive a medal or t-shirt but will be entitled to a hot lunch.). Parents/Guardians must be added to the booking at the time of booking.

We also offer 10% off for groups of 10 or more people. Please call 028 867 48881 to book a group.

ZOMBIE RUN ATTIRE

TRAIL RUNNING / RUNNING SHOES

Trail Running shoes are ideal for this type of event, where you’ll face different landscapes, as well as water and heaps of fresh mud, not to mention Zombies! They’re built with stability and comfort in mind when dealing with hills, rivers, ravines and other tricky terrains. They will let your feet breathe and stay cool and will usually be quicker to dry and let out water more efficiently than normal shoes or trainers. They will also have superior traction and grip than most other trainers and will cushion the uneven ground better than other footwear – you don’t want to slip with Zombies chasing you.

However, if you don’t have a pair and don’t want to neglect your beloved and trusty running trainers, then dust off the old favourites and bust them out on the course. Running shoes will also keep your feet well ventilated, allow water to drain out quickly and can usually handle most terrains.

We’re not gonna lie… your trainers will take a battering. We wouldn’t recommend bringing any footwear that you are attached too. They will get covered in mud and will not finish the course in the same condition they started.

Finally, we recommend tying the laces firmly. They will have to resist the pulling force of thick mud in some areas and will need to be tightly secured, although not too tight that they’re uncomfortable….obviously.

SPORTS CLOTHING

The right clothing will make the whole experience that little bit easier. We recommend substance over style on this occasion. While we don’t necessarily favour any particular clothing choices, we would mention the following:

  • Tighter fitted clothing – loose clothing will weigh you down and hold more mud and water and will generally be a bit more annoying when cold and wet, while also making it easier for the Zombies to grab you!
  • Fast drying active wear – now is the time to break out your Clima Cools and Dri Fits. Tops and bottoms with quick drying technology will be beneficial in that it will provide greater ventilation and also will dry quicker, so you won’t be weighed down.
  • Clothing which let’s you move – your complete range of motion will be tested on the course, so we recommend wearing active wear clothing which will let you be as flexible as you need to be. Forget your leather and denim clothes that you are saving up for a Zombie apocalypse.
  • Socks – the optimal choice would be socks designed with some sort of quick-drying technology. If you don’t have these, then most sports socks will do the trick. Your feet will be pretty important during the course, so we recommend taking good care of them and showing them some love!
  • Gloves – not a necessity, however could give you that extra bit of support or grip on some of the tougher obstacles. Again, hard wearing and breathable gloves like cycling or weight lifting gloves may be the best option.

ACCESSORIES

  • Sports watches and timers – if you want to accurately record your time we recommend a durable sports watch or device like a FitBit or other exercise monitoring device. Make sure they’re waterproof and can take a bit of wear and tear.
  • Headbands – good for keeping the sweat, mud and tears out of your eyes. For return runners, we hope to see the Zombie Run headbands from last year on show!
  • Goggles – again not necessary although could help in the water obstacles and Slip N Slide.

Fancy dress is also welcome – if you want to look like a fool while being chased by Zombies, we’re all for it!

POST-RACE

Once the Zombie Run has been conquered (hopefully with three lives still preserved), the post-race endorphins and adrenaline buzz will only keep you warm for so long. We recommend bringing the following:

  • Warm jacket or coat – an old and warm jacket, fleece or coat that you don’t mind getting dirty and you can pull on straight after the race is useful to help bring your body temperature back up. Zombie Run is held in October in the unpredictable Northern Ireland climate… be prepared.
  • Towel – our shower facilities will be available to use after the race (running on 50p coins), so bring a towel to dry yourself off afterwards.
  • Change of clothes – self-explanatory really. No one wants to travel home in wet clothes and smelling of Zombies.
  • Extra cash – You will need a 50p coin for the showers, as well as a couple of £1 coins for the bag drop area, should you wish for us to look after your belongings while you’re on the course.

PLEASE NOTE:

Parents can run alongside their children at a reduced rate of HALF PRICE. (Parents will not receive a medal or t-shirt but will be entitled to a hot lunch.). Parents/Guardians must be added to the booking at the time of booking.

We also offer 10% off for groups of 10 or more people. Please call 028 867 48881 to book a group.
