Emergency First Aid at work

First aid is the crucial initial care provided for illness or injury within the workplace until actual medical treatment can be given, if it is necessary. For that reason you must have the appropriate training before you can administer first aid.

Target audience: 

Our one day integrated training and assessment course in Emergency First Aid at Work is available to you if you work in any industry, and you need to ensure that you have the relevant training to carry out first aid. Our Emergency First Aid at Work course ensures that you learn the key techniques in order to administer simple but sometimes life-saving techniques. Once the one day course has been completed you will receive a certificate of training in Emergency First Aid at Work.

Description: 

Our Emergency First Aid at Work course is ideal; as once training has been received it means that you will be able to make a real difference to your workplace and the safety of your colleagues.

Product objectives: On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the role of the first aider, including reference to:
  • The importance of preventing cross infection
  • The need for recording incidents and accidents
  • The use of available equipment.
  • Assess the situation in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
  • Administer cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking.
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding.
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.
  • Provide treatment for minor injuries including small cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns, scalds and small splinters.

Our three day integrated training and assessment courses in First Aid at Work is available to you if you work in any capacity within industry, and have not attended a recognised first aid course. Our First Aid at Work course ensures that you learn the key techniques in order to administer simple but sometimes life-saving techniques. Once a three day course has been completed you will receive a certificate of training in First Aid at Work.

First aid at work certificates are valid for three years, and a two day requalification course must be carried out within 1 month of expiry. If a certificate goes beyond this, it will be necessary for you to carry out a full first aid at work course.

Our First Aid at Work course is ideal; as once training has been received it means that you will be able to make a real difference to your workplace and the safety of your colleagues.

Product objectives: 

On completion of these courses you will be able to:

  • Assess situations and carry out appropriate action including informing emergency services.
  • Carry out cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  • Place a casualty in the recovery position and know when to use this position.
  • Know when and how to use the spinal injury recovery position.
  • Clear obstructed airways.
  • Control severe bleeding
  • Recognise and treat shock.
  • Understand the requirements for a first aid kit and know any changes in first aid at work legislation or guidance.
  • Recognise and treat head injuries.
  • Recognise and treat major illnesses.
  • Deal with burns and scalds.
  • Deal with chemical contamination.
  • Deal with poisons.
  • Recognise and treat sprains, dislocations and fractures.
  • Know when and how to move casualties safely.
  • Recognise and treat other miscellaneous conditions.
  • All of the above in a safe approved manner, with no risk to self or third party.

Summary / introduction: 

First aid is critical in all scenarios due to it being the initial care that is provided for illness or injury, should something happen within your social environment or the workplace. Where children are involved it is even more important that a child is provided with immediate adequate care until actual medical treatment can be provided, if it is necessary.

For that reason you must have the appropriate training before you can administer first aid, but once training has been received it means that you will be able to make a real difference to the safety of the young children that you care for.

Target audience: 

Our one day attendance course is for you if you have any contact with, or work with children, and you need to ensure that you have the relevant training to be able to deal effectively and carry out first aid on children within your care.

Description: 

Our Paediatric First Aid course ensures that you have a basic understanding of first aid techniques whilst awaiting professional medical help. Once the 2 days have been completed you will receive a certificate of attendance in Paediatric First Aid.

Product objectives: 

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the role of the first aider, including reference to:
  • the importance of preventing cross infection
  • the need for recording incidents and actions
  • the use of available equipment.
  • Assess the situation in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
  • Administer cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (children and babies).
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure).
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking or having respiratory problems.
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding.
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.
  • Recognise and take appropriate action in the event of serious illness.
  • Provide treatment for minor injuries.
